Begin with the destination and the timing
A European move needs more information than the distance between two postcodes. DNE needs the destination country, the full delivery location and the dates when someone can provide access. Tell us whether your timing is fixed or whether there is room to agree a delivery window.
European moves are arranged individually. Confirm that your destination and route can be accommodated before making travel plans around a proposed collection. We do not advertise a country-by-country service schedule or promise delivery times that have not been agreed.
Build an inventory you can use at both ends
List the main furniture and number your boxes. Describe what each contains without including sensitive documents in photos. Note valuable, delicate, unusually heavy or oversized items separately so handling and cover can be discussed.
Keep passports, essential paperwork, medication and anything you need during the journey with you. An item packed in the removal load may not be accessible while you travel.
Check the destination’s requirements
Rules for taking personal belongings abroad vary by destination and circumstances. Find the relevant country’s official customs guidance and confirm what documentation applies to you before the move. The GOV.UK living-abroad information is a useful starting point.
Agree who is responsible for preparing documents and handling any customs formalities. Do not assume that a transport quote includes customs advice, duties, taxes or specialist clearance work. Any arrangements need to be stated clearly in your agreement.
Give the delivery address the same attention
Check parking, stairs, lifts and restrictions at the new home. A building manager may need advance notice or a vehicle booking. Include a reliable contact for arrival and explain how keys will be available.
If your plans change, tell DNE as early as possible. A different delivery day or additional items may change the route, cost or availability.
Ask for the scope in writing
Your quote should make the collection, destination, inventory, timing and included tasks clear. Ask about cover for your particular belongings and any exclusions. DNE has confirmed public liability cover, but this must not be read as an unlimited guarantee for goods in transit.
