A useful conversation before moving day
You do not need to have every box packed to start talking about your move. Begin with the two postcodes, an estimated date and a list of your larger belongings. Include the furniture in spare rooms, the shed and the garage; these are easy to miss when you are counting bedrooms.
DNE provides home removals from its base in Grays, covering Essex and London, with longer UK moves by arrangement. We can discuss a whole-house move or a smaller household load. Availability and the arrangements for your particular items are confirmed when we quote.
Tell us about the awkward parts
A third-floor flat without a lift needs a different plan from a house with a driveway. Let us know about stairs, narrow landings, low doorways and any long walk between the property and the van.
Measure large items and the tightest part of the route where possible. A photograph of the staircase can be more useful than “the access is fine”. If a bed or wardrobe needs taking apart, ask whether this can be included; do not assume dismantling or reassembly comes with the move.
What to include in your enquiry
- Collection and destination postcodes, including any additional stops.
- Your preferred date, and whether it is confirmed or still provisional.
- Main furniture, approximate box count and items needing special attention.
- Floor levels, lift dimensions and building access arrangements.
- Parking restrictions and the likely carrying distance.
- Any packing, disconnection or dismantling you want to discuss.
We quote for the job described. If the load, date or access changes, tell us before moving day so the arrangements can be reviewed.
Pack for the first evening as well as the journey
Keep medication, keys, important paperwork and the things you need on the day with you. Label boxes with their destination room. A kettle and mugs are much easier to find when they are not hidden among six boxes marked “kitchen”.

Can I get a quote before my moving date is confirmed?
Yes. Explain that the date is provisional and give your likely timeframe. Availability and the booking arrangements still need to be agreed with DNE.
Are packing and furniture assembly included?
Do not assume they are included. Tell us what help you need and ask for the agreed tasks to be listed in your quote.
What insurance does DNE have?
DNE has confirmed public liability cover. Ask for the relevant cover details, limits and exclusions for your move; public liability is not the same as cover for every item in transit.
